The city of Chicago has produced some of the greatest artists and bands in the music world, and hailing from the south side of that town, Kenny Cetera is no exception.
Born into a family of vast musical talents, where listening to his parents and siblings constantly harmonizing and rehearsing was commonplace, Kenny says, "Being a singer was inevitable for me."
After touring extensively throughout the Midwest, Kenny headed west to the San Francisco Bay area. After enjoying success there, he moved to Los Angeles and began recording with such heavyweights as Richard Marx, Kenny Rogers, Julio Iglesias, Bill Champlin, Agnetha Faltskog (of "ABBA" fame), and producer David Foster, who happened to be enjoying enormous success with CHICAGO, who's career was in a slump until the producer helped rocket them back to superstardom. In 1984, Kenny sang background vocals on several songs on Chicago's best selling record ever, CHICAGO 17, including the single "You're The Inspiration," written and sung by Kenny's brother, Peter, the band's original bass player, lead singer, and the first songwriter in the band's history to earn them a Number One record. With the album breaking all previous sales records for the band, Kenny was asked to join Chicago for their 17 tour, singing background vocals, playing keyboards, drums and percussion, and stayed with the band until Peter's departure, just about a year later. Kenny played percussion and sang background vocals on Peter Cetera's subsequent hit solo records, Solitude Solitaire and World Falling Down.
In 1991, Kenny was part of the historic "Voices That Care" project which raised funds and morale for the Gulf War effort. Kenny sang background vocals with some of the biggest names in music, including Celine Dion, the Pointer Sisters, Garth Brooks, and brother, Peter, who co-wrote the song, which shot up to number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.
Kenny Cetera currently resides in the Los Angeles area with his wife and three daughters, and maintains a busy work schedule performing live and in the studio.
