that rolls across the sands of time,
the battlefield memories,
blades of steel that make you weep

They are not prisoners of tormented souls,
minds grown numb on trails grown cold
Dreams and forget-me-nots a cruel joke,
for all the folk who never made it home,

It does not matter now for we all die alone,

We are all brothers, someone's lover, someone's son,

For as long as the shimmering trumpets sigh,
for as long as church bells toll away our lives.
