About Vinterjazz
Vinterjazz is a nationwide music festival that takes place in February each year. The festival spans three weeks featuring more than 500 concerts, 100 venues and 25 independent organizers from all across Denmark – from Aalborg, Aarhus, Odense and Esbjerg to the historic jazz capital of Copenhagen. The combination of the festival’s length and the countrywide aspect makes Vinterjazz an opportunity to meet international stars on tour, new Danish award-winning projects and concert themes.

Vinterjazz 2016 is spotlightning a selection of Denmark’s most prominent, innovative artists, when the musical collective Eget Værelse embarks on an expedition of concerts alongside experimental trio Shitney. Together they will cover the entire country under the collected theme named Wild at Heart. Embedded in the Danish jazz scene are several progressive powerhouses of female artists, whose uniqueness, artistic vision and do-it-yourself-approach make them a vital part of the contemporary slew of innovators. One example is composer and sax player Maria Faust, two-times Danish Music Award Jazz-winner in 2014, and her work with Qarin Wikström and Katrine Amsler as Shitney. Another powerhouse in new music is the collective of musicians, Eget Værelse – residing at the alterna-venue and rehearsal space Mayhem, they’re the main force behind such groups as Selvhenter, Bad Astma, Valby Vokalgruppe and more. Eget Værelse will present a special performance for this very tour.
