DESCRIPTION:
Katora Lake June 2014. Kumrath Valley upper Dir near
Jazz Banda / Jahaz Banda Meadows.

Introduction:
Katora lake lies in District Upper dir of KPK. The base camp of the trek is Janrai Village Which lies about 100 KM(5 hours) from Upper Dir City. From janrai one has to reach Jazz Banda Meadows which can be reached after 5 hours of steep trek through pine forest. A very well known local personality "Raja Taj Muhammad" is the key person of the Guest house at Jazz Banda Meadows. One has to hike for another 3 - 3.5 hours to reach the lake through a trek which includes Rock climbing, Glaciers, water Streams, small lakes and Steep hikes.

How To Reach:
1- Reach Lower Dir/Timirgarah via public transport from pindi/peshawar/mardan 6 hours from pindi
2- From Timirgarah bus station take the van towards Shringal 2-3 hours
3- From Shringal take the private jeep towards Janrai 2-3 hours Very rough road (Just ask anyone that you want to visit Katora Lake/Jazz Banda) Every body will help you.
4- Do contact Raja Taj mohammad of Janrai village from where the trek starts and inform him about your arrival He is a great person

5- This area is not commercial So he will accomodate you in his own places.
6- No need to take tent / sleeping bags with you they will arrange for you
7- While leaving do return the favor by giving them some good money which you think is fine for their services.
8- If you are going on your personal car I think you can take it till Shringal, Ask the locals if you can take it any further.
9- Katora lake trak is in the start of Kumrat valley So if you are going in july then try to go to kumrat-Utror via a scenic jeep trek (Not possible in June due to snow peaks), From utror you can go to kalam - sawat and hence complete the circle of entire Malakand Division.
10- I will recommend to use google map to have the idea of all the locations in your mind
