Born and raised in Sydney, it was evident Kate's passion for music started at an early age; her talents as a performer were recognized after winning several music competitions as a child. Her father encouraged her from a young age to perform for the family along side cousin Jeremy Sawkins, who is one of Australia's finest jazz guitarists. She started writing her own material at the age of 15 and it was at that moment Kate knew music was more than just a passion, it was a career. At the age of 16, Kate joined a band which was signed to Village Roadshow/Sony music, with their first single reaching the top 3 on the radio airplay charts, as well as performing all over Australia at various award and television shows. After leaving the band for artistic reasons, Kate decided to move to London to focus on her solo career and develop herself as a songwriter.

Kate started to collaborate with some British writers and musicians in the UK such as Danny Schogger - originally the keyboard player for wham whose writing credits include Celine Dion, Paul Young, Bananarama and jimmy Nail.

Peter Ibsen - who has worked with Seal, Billy Crawford and Genuwine.

Tom Nichols - who has written for Kylie, Tom Jones and All Saints.

and the list goes on

Kate has performed at a number of small gigs around London and has been fortunate enough to be supported by guitarist Hugh Burns who has worked with Stevie Wonder, George Micheal and Paul McCartney to name but a few, as well as Danny Schogger, on piano. She has also performed with a number of bands such as Supafly and Pack Of Six.

In 2006, Kate had co-written a song for former Spice Girl Emma Bunton's album "Life in Mono" which was released later that year and had another co-write released on Christophe Willem's album (winner of France idol) in 2009
