Karl Michael really pulled out the big guns on tonight's The Voice semi final.

The 27 year old singer has come close to making it before, but had the rug pulled from under him when he lost a new record deal a few years ago. He's appeared as a backing vocalist on a Bruno Mars song but never shone in his own right and this evening he was desperate to win the public's backing, a place in the final and a chance to land another record deal.

Karl chose the incredibly intricate song 'I Believe I Can Fly' by R Kelly for the penultimate show and just before he took to the stage he begged his fans to keep supporting him and tweeted:

"Nearly show time. Please vote!!! Xxx #karlmichael #votekarl @BBCTheVoiceUK"

He added:

"Plz vote! Gonna need it. Get all friends and fam to vote too. I have to make the final. Love u all x"
