Nile’s latest release, “What Should Not Be Unearthed,” is brutality with a smile. As I expressed to Karl Sanders during the interview, my reaction to first hearing this record for the first time was, “Holy Shit!” If you listen to the purveyors of metal the genre is currently doing a death rattle. But somehow I don’t think Sanders got the memo. “What Should Not Be Unearthed” is a really good album. It’s the punch in the face this genre needs, not just from Nile but from every band in the genre, to revitalize the sound and put fans in the venues.
