On the 84th birthday of the celebrated vocalist Patsy Cline, Institute of Musical Traditions honored her life and music with a concert of her songs. Backed by the fabulous Backroads Band, Karen Collins, Jess Eliot Myhre, Letitia VanSant, and Melissa Wright performed her greatest hits as well as her lesser known B-sides.
Patsy Cline was one of the most influential vocalists of the 20th century. With her powerful, expressive voice and confident, unflappable attitude towards industry professionals, she not only made a name for herself, but helped pave the way for female artists in the country genre. A native of Winchester, VA, she is in the Washington Area Music Association Hall of Fame.
