Justin Waylon Spears’ rich bass voice soothes his listeners as he croons a romantic ballad or calls out to two-steppers with his fast-paced melodies. The lyrics of his songs take you back to a simpler time of cowboy heroes, scents of honeysuckle vines from front porch swings and homemade biscuits smothered in molasses in Granny’s kitchen.

The country singer/songwriter is well known to Texas fans as he has performed around the state for benefits and charity organizations. In 2002 Justin joined the Emotions, a popular Texas dance band which plays some of the top venues in the state with a repertoire ranging from Country to Top 40. During the next three years he fronted the band as lead vocalist and utility player and served as vocal director. As lead singer, Justin followed such greats as David Kersh, who used his Emotions background as a springboard to a major recording career.

By the summer of 2005 Justin decided he was ready for more national exposure, so he moved to Nashville to write with other songwriters, such as Jerome Ernest, Robert Wright, and Mickie Cones, and to achieve his dream of writing and performing traditional country music with a Texas flare.

The country artist has been pleasing audiences since grade school. He began playing the guitar in middle school and is a self-taught picker. His unique style of picking pulls from the guitar a complex, melodic tone reminiscent of performances from classical guitarists.

Justin opened for Daryl Singletary, Guy Clark and Tim McGraw while he was still a student at Rockport Fulton High School in Texas back in the ‘90s. While in high school he began writing songs and added the fiddle, mandolin, dobro, banjo, bass and piano to his catalog of musical skills.

He opted to forgo a musical performance scholarship for college in favor of signing on with Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, where he performed for six years. At Fiesta Texas, Justin served as show captain over the Sundance Theatre and as vocal director for the theme park’s country shows and the Carnival International show. Fiesta Texas recognized his outstanding contributions with the Shining Star Award, the highest award to an individual voted on by peers and supervisors as exceeding all expectations.

Justin’s songs appeal to country traditionalists who enjoy the music of Alan Jackson or George Strait. His powerful bass voice rivals that of Trace Adkins. But his sound is all his own. His unique style blends instrumental genius, deep resonant voice and homey lyrics with strong melodies.
