His rugged good looks make him magnetic, but his sincerity and natural charisma make him unforgettable. However, don’t think for one minute that Chad Hudson takes any of this for granted, or maybe even actually realizes any of these qualities in himself. Humble to the bone, Chad’s humility only serves to add to his “man’s man” persona.
It takes a man this comfortable in his own shoes to write the kind of music that makes celebration of everyday life. Chad’s music is about taking your everyday experiences and making the most of them. Good times are the best of your life, adversity is rough, but in true Texas cowboy spirit, one finds a way to pick yourself up, knock off the dust and keep riding off into the sunset. Optimistic, without being “pie-in-the-sky”, Chad sees the beauty in the roller coaster ride we call life.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Chad was raised on a cappella church singing as a child. This not only served to train his voice, but also his musical ear. At a young age, Chad learned to sing precise and complicated harmonies. He played piano and guitar by ear. Like many others of his generation, the eighties brought a new breed of rock entertainers that not only stimulate the ears, but opened young hungry eyes to the world of exciting stage performances. Drinking from the musical cups of such legendary bands as Aerosmith and Bon Jovi , Chad saw and heard for the first time grit, soul, and pure innovation.
Finally, Chad had found a home for his God-given gravelly voice. Forming his first cover band at 18, Chad played the Texas dancehall circuit for over a decade. While he could dig his heels into a scorching rock tune, he could just as easily endear the two-steppers with the latest George Strait hit. Every song was sprinkled with that unique vocal richness and texture that only Chad could produce.
A successful high school athlete, Chad earned honors in all-regional and all-district football. Football not only trained Chad’s physical abilities, but also trained his mental discipline, traits which he still uses to this day to stay focused in his career. After high school, Chad set his sites on collegiate athletics, attending the prestigious University of Texas Austin. However, music kept calling him from the sidelines. Eventually, Chad could no longer ignore the call and made the difficult but providential choice to pursue music full-time. There were hard times, and small paychecks, but Chad’s passion and love of the craft helped him persevere. “I try to stay true to myself, make wise choices, surround myself with good people, and pray every night for God to keep walking with me on my journey.”
The journey eventually brought Chad to Nashville, where in a single week he was introduced to EMI Nashville’s Gary Overton and Universal Music Group’s then senior director of A&R, Brian Wright. These men saw the potential in Chad, and opened the doors to the exciting worlds of songwriting, publishing, and music production.
Chad is currently writing and recording his debut album. Signed with Robbins Nashville record label, his first single, “Somebody Find Me A Preacher” found success last year when it landed in the top 50 on the Mediabase national charts. He is now preparing for the release of his new single and full record.
Along with recording, Chad has also had songwriting success with cuts by Georgia Middleman, David Grissom, Rebecca Lynn Howard, Kevin Denney, Matt Stillwell, Colt Ford, Anson Carter, The Scott Taylor Band, Tabor Dame, among many others. When he’s not making music, he’s living life to the fullest on eighty acres of Texas earth, and playing hero to his wife and three children.
