I was born in Holguin , Cuba on February, 1974 . In 1985 I started my
musical education at the Art School of Holguin,
continuing in 1988 at the Conservatory "Esteban Salas", in Santiago de
Cuba, where I graduated in 1992 as a percussionist.
During the next ten years, I played the piano , wrote songs and musical
arrangements, and became the musical director for
my father's band. In 1998, I joined "Mezcla ", an outstanding Cuban
band, where I recorded two CD's: "LAS PUERTAS ESTAN
ABIERTAS" and "AKIMBA." I have toured with Mezcla internationally
several times, performing in Germany , Mexico and the
U.S.(Baltimore, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and other cities).
As a composer, I have received several awards, among
them, the Grand Prix "Prisma", for best supporting music in the
short-documentary "LUZ", and the "Plaza Prize" at the
International Films Festival in Havana, for background-supporting music
in the short films and documentaries "DULCE
MARIA LOYNAZ", and "ISMAELILLO". As a pianist and arranger, I have
recorded not only on my own projects of "Ven a mi
Jardín" and "Suite para Iriam," but also with other artists including
among them Silvio Rodriguez, Isaac Delgado and Augusto
Blanca. I presently reside in Quebec, Canada, and am currently the
lead singer, pianist and musical director of "HABANA-
CAFE."

Je suis né à Holguin (Cuba) le 9 février 1974 . En 1985 jai commencé mes études à lEcole dArt de la ville de Holguin. Puis, en 1988, jai continué ma formation au Conservatoire "Esteban Salas", à Santiago de Cuba, où jai obtenu mon diplôme de percussionniste en 1992. Une fois diplômé jai joué du piano et jai écrit des chansons pendant une période de dix ans pendant lesquelles jai également réalisé tous les arrangements du groupe musical de mon père, assumant également la direction musicale du même groupe. En 1998, je suis devenu membre du groupe "Mezcla ", formation remarquable de la scène cubaine, et jai enregistré deux albums avec eux : "LAS PUERTAS EST N ABIERTAS" et "AKIMBA". Jai voyagé avec Mezcla pendant plusieurs tournées internationales qui m'ont amené en Allemagne, au Mexique et aux Etats-Unis ( Baltimore , Boston, San Francisco ,Los Angeles etc ). Jai gagné également plusieurs prix en tant que compositeur, dont le Grand Prix "Prisma" pour Meilleure bande sonore du court-métrage documentaire "LUZ" et le "Plaza Prize" au Festival International du Film de La Havane pour Meilleure Musique de Film dans des courts-métrages tels que " DULCE MAR?A LOYNAZ" et "ISMAELILLO".
