DESCRIPTION:
American Composer Joshua C. Young discusses the meaning of the fugue and shares his views about the contrapuntal procedure that Johann Sebastian Bach had taken to its highest musical expressive form in the 18th century.
Young hopes to continue developing the art of fugal composition and incorporate modern elements to its arsenal, reinvigorating the style into the 21st century. The composer of a recently published unforgiving Quadruple Fugue, entitled "Ultra Stellarum," (beyond the stars in latin) for string quartet encourages present/future generations to give consideration & to hopefully renew interest in such an architectonic & poetic mechanism of a compositional tool.
