With over 15 years experience working in film and television as an editor, director, filmer and composer, Mark Roberts has always been fascinated by sound and vision and how they work in unison. How they can influence one another and seeing the music as well as hearing it is an essential part of the creative process. Having performed as a bass player for more than a decade and after a move from Greater London to the South Coast of England, to the vibrant city of Brighton he focused his attention on recording and producing. Spaces, places, landscapes and worldwide travel have all influenced 'VISTAS' from the epic plateaus of northern Argentina echoed in 'Land of Silver' to the cyclical life of 'The River' and finally the uplifting and heart felt 'The Homecoming' concludes the album with strings by Jote Osahn (Cinematic Orchestra, Elbow, Snow Patrol).
VISTAS draws influences from composers such as John Adams, Nitin Sawhney, Leo Brouwer, Gustavo Santaolalla and Mark's broad spectrum of musical tastes. With guitars as his main writing tool, Mark uses very simple initial ideas that grow in layers and textures that take the listener to vistas of open spaces.
