Innocent Smith - Legacy, Pt 2 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 15, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
There once was a man named Judson Greene, who lived in Ft. Lauderdale and taught us about what matters in life. He was a husband, father, grand- and great grandfather, but we called him Uncle Jud and he was our mentor. We are writing a series of songs about him and this is #2, a survey of his life and how the Lord showed up.

Legacy, Pt. 2:

He built a home in old Hollywood
And raised a family there within.
They painted walls with melted butter
Him and his wife and kids.
And the Lord, oh the Lord said it is good.

He made a boat out of the woods
And found himself on the open sea,
Lost a lung somewhere below
Or maybe he just set it free.
And the Lord, oh the Lord said it is good.

The poets say he met her in a song,
The ancient hymn that caught his eye.
So he took her hand and how they danced
For the rest of their lives.
And the Lord, oh the Lord said it is good.

The illness took his song away.
She went on home and left her bells.
Like the Holy Ghost, but prettier.
They sing better down from the shelves.
[bells interlude]

Now, eighty years is a long time
To give the Lord the run around.
He slowed him down just to catch him up,
Like Jacob's hip, his other lung gave out.
And the Lord, oh the Lord said it is good.

Who knew five years to change the world.
Time to build a new man and boat.
A captain with his ship and crew
Carried by the Wind despite the oars.
And the Lord, oh the Lord said it is good.
