The Gita called Tampa Bay home from 1998 - 2003, sweeping Creative Loafing's "Best of the Bay" awards many years in a row, snatching up awards like "Best Local Band," "Best Singer/Songwriter," and "Best Instrumentalist." The Gita entertained crowds with their world-infused, upbeat pop music. This sing-along crowd favorite, "Untitled (Song for You)" is from their 2001 release, Feature Presentation. Members included Joran Slane Oppelt on guitar and vocals; Joe Terrana on saxophone; Nick Mohr, Rich Montalbano, Ice, Jason Merritt on bass guitar; Dave Russell on keyboard and trombone; Tony Dolan on the drums.
