Musicians from the San Francisco jazz and improvised music community performed a benefit concert to help raise money in support of saxophonist and composer Arthur Blythe at the Berkeley Arts Festival Performance Gallery. Mr. Blythe is recovering from a tumor operation and is also stricken with Parkinson's disease. Sponsored by the Berkeley Arts Festival and Outsound Presents, other performers included Elements Saxophone Quintet (Josh Allen, Aaron Bennett, Aram Shelton, Dave Slusser, Rent Romus), Life's Blood (Kim Cass, Timothy Orr, Markus Hunt, Rent Romus), and The Breakdown Trio (Lewis Jordan, Robert Lopez, Karl Evangelista).
