This is one of my all-time favorite covers, something I break out at many solo shows. Most people think this song is old as the dirt and was passed down a hollow in West Virginia in 1812. Not the case. Written by Marijohn Wilkin and Danny Dill, it was a hit in 1959 for Lefty Frizell before ascending to Standard status. This version is largely inspired by The Band's reworking on Music From Big Pink. But pretty much everybody has played this song at one time or another.
