I'm not alone in loving this song. I recall hearing someone at a Seldom Scene reunion show say he could die happy now having finally heard them sing it live. This is from the classic album "Old Train" and featured the soaring vocals and stellar playing of that classic line up with John Starling, John Duffey, John Starling, Ben Eldridge, Mike Auldridge and Tom Gray. I've often thought that if a song has been recorded well (if not perfectly as the case may be here) why try to re-do it the same way. I tried to take a sadder, more world-weary approach with this version, after all the lyrics are pretty sad. I also recorded this on the day John Duffey died and it was that news that prompted me to sit down in my little studio and run through this. So I offer this different rendition with great thanks to The Seldom Scene.
