DESCRIPTION:
A documentary by Ed Mills about the making of 'On Golden Cap', composed by John K Miles for the opening of the Olympic sailing in 2012 - a 15 minute documentary followed by a film of the concert premiere at The Lighthouse in Poole.
Commissioned by The Lighthouse, through Fran Williams and B Sharp in Lyme Regis, On Golden Cap was inspired by a B Sharp creative community music project, led by John K Miles, with early input from singer songwriter Billy Bragg.
The participants were drawn from The Woodroffe School, Colyton Grammar School, St Michaels Primary School, Mrs Ethelstone's Primary School and the B Sharp core youth group. The choirs were open access - some experienced singers, but mainly without any prior experience of formal singing.
On Golden Cap is scored for five part choir, strings, vibraphone and percussion.
