Joey gained a place at the The Arts Educational School Tring, a performing arts school, at the age of 10. This is where she gained her love of music and performing on stage. In later years at the school she gained a scholarship and ultimately was one of the first pupils, whilst still training there, to achieve a National Certificate in Professional Classical Ballet at such a high standard. As well as learning the challenging disciplines of ballet, she also learned other forms of dance at the school, some of which are well suited to her chosen career as a singer/performer.
After leaving school things took an interesting turn for Joey when she was asked to take the part of lead singer in a Blondie type band. She was a little bemused as it was such a contrast to her background as a ballerina, but at the same time she was very flattered. She felt it was a much more natural role for her, and she threw herself fully into perfecting her new found trade. Since then Joey has performed in front of large crowds as well as more intimate acoustic sets for smaller audiences. As she gained in confidence with her singing she began trying her hand at songwriting, skills which have taken her to some of the best songwriting areas of Europe and as far away as LA. Initially she visited LA to write with the world famous Steve Dorff who is a seasoned writer for Disney and has written hits for Celine Dion, Taylor Swift, and many other top class vocalists.
Then later she took up the opportunity to meet and work with Gray/Rosen Music Corp. Justin Gray is a hugely talented songwriter and producer, who has worked with people such as; Phil Thornally, Blair Mackinchan, Curtis Richardson, Jamie Houston, Victoria Horn, Klaus Derendorf, Andrew Fromm, Emma Bunton, Joss Stone and many others. And Steven Rosen is a very well respected person within the music industry, who as well as having countless music industry related successes, was instrumental in securing the label signing of Orianthi, Michael Jackson's on stage female guitarist who was due to support him in his 'This is it' final musical extravaganza.
Joey has the musical ability to cross genres with singing, although she is happy to have found her niche with her current music. Her songwriting is refreshing and she has the ability to create songs that are both catchy but cool. She is influenced by music of all genres but especially people like Katy Perry, Blondie, Pink and Rhianna for their singing and performing skills and of course Beyonce, Britney and Maddona who are the singer/dancers she admires. Joey is a great dancer herself and often likes to write or sing songs that can be danced to.
As a person Joey has an exceptional sense of humour and a bubbly personality. Her work ethic is phenomenal, she gets on well with people easily, is reliable and able to take constructive criticism.
Meeting and spending time with Joey is genuinely nice. She is a fun person to be around, and there is definitely something magnetic about her both on and off the stage.
