Accordion. Who thought that thing could be hip? Normally thought of as "that polka instrument", but in the hands of JOAO FRADE the thing just leaps to life. Born & raised in Portugal, he's a master of the instrument and world renowned for his genre-defying skills... and he's here in Toronto while on tour, and Brownman has the great honor of being his Musical Director for a show this Fri-May-30 @ Mây Cafe, that'll feature fellow Portuguese colleague Marito Marques (drums), Brad Cheeseman (bass), Brownman Ali (trumpet) and an array of tunes both from Joao and Brownman (Electryc Trio fans -- they'll be doing some of that material too -- wait til you hear Joao on "Red Clay", running his accordion through effects pedals!! Whaaaa?! So good!). Toronto, you really don't wanna miss this one, if for no other reason than to feel your jaw drop when you hear this monster navigate complex harmony and intricate grooves seemingly effortlessly.
