Jean-Michel Bernard: Theme from 'The Science of Sleep' soundtrack (piano cover) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 17, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
Jean-Michel Bernard (1961-) is a French pianist and composer for films TV and commercials who has worked with Lalo Schifrin, Ennio Morricone, Ray Charles and other leading musicians. His score to the surreal 2006 French film 'The Science of Sleep' (La Science des rêves, literally The Science of Dreams) won the UCMF Film Music Award for the best music score at Cannes in 2007. This piano version is combines the published piano arrangement of the music for 'Week-End De Ski' and Thème Générique Fin "Golden The Pony Boy" (which is sung on the soundtrack). A word of warning - the published piano arrangement of 'Week-End De Ski'is poor in that it seems to miss out the key cello solo. I have prepared this version with reference to the sountrack (plus a few of my own fills and changes of register). Basically it consists of repetitions of this most beguiling theme, which really conjures up the intimate and sophisticated contemporary French chanson genre.
