Jennifer Markey and the Tennessee Snowpants "Drunkard's Lullaby" Susan Hensel Gallery - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 01, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Closing Party of "In the House of the Mineral Spirits" at Susan Hensel Gallery, with guest appearance by Jennifer Markey and the Tennessee Snowpants.

Jennifer Markey has been singing all her life, but when the hardship of a failed marriage drove her to the Hexagon Bar every week for the Country Jam, she really found her niche. Learning a hundred classic country covers by Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline and Hank Williams, among others, Jennifer learned guitar and started sitting in with The Dieselfitters (Clay Williams, Richard Gunderson and Steve Everett), becoming comfortable on stage and eventually joining the band. When Markey set out on her own in 2006, she brought on bassist Eric Paulson (of The Twin City Playboys); Clay Williams was in the right place at the right time one night when a guitar player was desperately needed, and he was in, too. Scott "Frenchy" Fremont added his drums to the mix in 2010, and solidified his place in the band when he played a four-hour gig with them at Dusty's bar in Northeast Minneapolis.

Dean Ebben was born in St. Louis Missouri. His family relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota when he was four months old. Ebben's family lived six weeks at the Hopkins House Hotel where he took to sleeping in the hotel dresser drawer. Ebben lived in the frozen upper midwest until he graduated from The Perpich Center for Arts Education in 1993. He is a working artist in New York City where he has lived for the last fourteen years. Most recently Ebben had solo exhibition In the House of the Mineral Spirits, at Susan Hensel Gallery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Ebben has collaborated with Alison Knowles one of the original founders of Fluxus. He works in many different mediums from papermaking and bookmaking to video installation, sculpture, and performance. He earned his BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, Massachusetts, where he studied sculpture and papermaking, and earned his MFA with distinction from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York where he studied video and installation.
