"Dodging Bullets" Live Performance At CEPA Gallery In Buffalo, NY (2010-07-11): Part 1 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 23, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
Event Description from CEPA Gallery's Facebook Event Invitation Page:

" 'Dodging Bullets' is what people always do-figuratively and literally. In Neuringer's piece, a projected audio waveform is acting as a loose score, randomly choosing encrypted commands. Guest musicians are asked to instantaneously respond to it with an abbreviated allowance of gestures, in order to complete the piece -... while confronting it in real-time. Chance dictates whether these sonic blasts are cooperative or combative, but often forming a collective response that sounds, perhaps, a lot like dodging yet more like firing back.

The performance features Keir Neuringer (Saxophone), Jax Deluca (processed voice, didgeridoo) , Tristan Andrew Trump (electric guitar), Jim Abramson (drums/percussion), and KG Price (percussion).

"Dodging Bullets" is FREE to the public on Sunday, July 11 at 8pm in the Atrium at Market Arcade.

Keir Neuringer has cultivated a personal and intensely physical approach to solo saxophone improvisation that honors, builds upon, and eschews diverse music-making traditions. Vehemently critical of the destructive behavior of industrial civilization, in his work (as a composer, performer, bandleader, writer, interdisciplinary artist and curator) he seeks to bring audiences into a state of emotional and intellectual curiosity that meets the conditions for meaningful dialogue with the culture at large. He works with a wide and undefined network of inspiring musicians, including bassist Rafal Mazur, turntablist DJ Sniff, and the contemporary music group Ensemble Klang.

Presented in conjunction with "The Art Of War" exhibit, on view through August 21 at CEPA Gallery in Buffalo, NY.
