A SHORT BIOGRAPHY



Power and beauty. Energy and grand emotions. These are a few key words to describe the music of jana. jana got its name from their songwriter, and they believe in personal, touching lyrics and majestic melodies. In addition to the edgy and lucid guitars, the characteristic sound of jana is marked by the violin and piano. The songs get their motive from real life and matters that are truly meaningful to Jana: Theres no point in trying to make up stories, because they are around us all the time, and in ourselves. Singing about truth, love and also painful matters is very hard, but at the same time, extremely liberating.



The band has five members: Jana (lead singer/guitar), Wille (guitar), Mika L. (bass), Panu (violin) and Mika K. (drums). As a band, jana is fairly young; it was formed in the autumnal Hämeenlinna in 2003. However, the undertaking didnt have to be started by getting to know the instruments, because everyone already had a firm musical background. This was a great starting point from which to start building the dream. jana made two demos before Edel Records snatched the promising newcomer to be a part of their line-up. This actually makes some sense! was the comment from the production manager of Edel when he first heard janas music. Even with their first demo, jana aroused wide interest around the country, which is why the Finnish radio listeners chose the song Kiiltävä käytävä as the most desired demo of 2004 on radio YleX.



janas singles have been well received amongst the public. The band's first official single Pauliina was released in November of 2005, and the latest single, Pelkuri, was out of the oven on January 22nd, 2007.



janas first official full-length album, Pelkuri (titled according to the single),

was released in March of 2007. During the spring and summer of 2008, jana has worked on some new material for the band's second album.

Some demos have already been finished, and more material is yet to

come.
