DESCRIPTION:
The 37th release on microCastle finds the label revisiting King Unique's Beatport #1 release 'Some Break The Shell'. The four track EP released in April of 2014 found the storied UK producer showcasing some of the most diverse and poignant work of this career. Now to kick off 2015 we see four brand new interpretations courtesy of Dubspeeka, Jamie Stevens, Pedram and Petrels who all have been selected by King Unique himself as his own personal dream team for this project.

One of 2014's most sought after remixers was undoubtedly Dubspeeka. The Bristol based producer is perhaps best known for being one half of the much loved Kosheen project which yielded one of electronic music’s finest ever records in ‘Hide You’. The Dubspeeka production moniker has already amassed an impressive discography with releases on Bedrock, Drumcode, Ideal Audio, Suara and his own Skeleton imprint. For his '7 Hours' interpretation Dubspeeka has stripped the beastly original right down and overhauled it into a romping techno workout. It's tension filled drive is offset with sombre synths and vibrant electronics which pierce the atmosphere with electric flair.

The second and final interpretation of '7 Hours' is provided by Pedram who is making his first appearance on microCastle. The UK based producer has worked under a wide assortment of alias' and has become a favourite of Anja Schneider, Dusky, Paul Woolford, Nic Fanciulli, Midland, Tensnake and many others. A release on James Zabiela's Born Electric remains a discography highlight and he's gotten 2015 off to a great start with a massive interpretation of '7 Hours'. Backed by a warm, round and well carved groove Pedram's vocal edits, epically styled synth work and detailed textures takes the tougher original into blissful, end of the night territory.

The lone interpretation of 'Some Break' is provided by microCastle label artist Jamie Stevens. The Aussie producer is now making his fourth appearance on the label and first of 2015. Jamie has achieved an amazing level of critical and commercial success over the course of his career. As one of Australia's most talented and sought after music producers he has proven his skill in professional sound design, music scores for film and contemporary dance music. As the founding member of Infusion, the much-loved Australian electronic live act, he's left his mark around the globe, headlining some of the biggest and most respected clubs including; Fabric- London, Pacha - Buenos Aires, Womb- Tokyo and festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, Roskilde and Creamfields in Moscow, Brazil, UK and Argentina. In his home country, Infusion has received 2 prestigious ARIA awards for their work. More recently Jamie's discography has been highlighted by a contribution (Prism) to John Digweed and Nick Muir's 'Versus’ album along with 'The Wonder of You', released in 2013 on microCastle, which turned out to be one of his career best pieces of work. It earned a #1 chart placing in both Tech House and Electronica on Beatport and was widely regarded as one of the year's best releases. Always a magical remixer Jamie has reinvented the sparkling, melodic 'Some Break' into a stomping techno beast of a record. Already played by Jeremy Olander & Guy J at the VH1 Supersonic festival it looks to be one of Jamie's biggest techno productions of the year.

The lone interpretation of 'Without Boxes' is provided by Petrels who is making his debut on microCastle. UK producer Oli Barrett debuted his Petrels project in 2011 with the release of 'Haeligewielle' which by year's end found its place in numerous best of the year lists. His unique take on ambient electronica also caught the attention of Max Cooper who had Petrels remix 'Fragments of Self' just over year ago. For his 'Without Boxes' interpretation Petrels has truly outdone himself. Working from the grandiose theme which made the original so captivating the UK producer has crafted a majestic, slow burning epic. It's textural shifts and sparking meditative design makes for an enlightening journey and the slow structural decay which rounds out its third act is granular delight.

Rounding out the release is an acoustic / live treatment of '7 Hours' which showcases the emotive brilliance of the piece at its most exposed.
