Intrigue is a club and record label based in Bristol UK showcasing the deeper sounds of drum n bass. It was started in 2003 by Ben Payne and Joe Wills aka The Insiders, and has seen many homes during that time. Intrigue began life at Bar Latino on a fortnightly Wednesday slot, and went on to stage nights at Sodabar, Level, E-Shed, Arc Bar and Warehouse before settling into its established home at Dojo Lounge at the end of 2005. The main residents are The Insiders (Metalheadz/Creative Source/31).
Each month our lineup includes established d&b artists alongside up and coming names. Guests who've graced the decks at Intrigue in the past year include: Fierce, D-Bridge, DJ Storm, Commix, Invaderz, LTJ Bukem, A.I., Fabio, DJ Patife, Alix Perez, Jenna G, Marcus Intalex, Martyn, Digital, Makoto, TC1, Doc Scott, Break, Bryan G & Influx UK. Aside from the music a popular attraction is the quarterly BBQ on the terrace.
Intrigue has also seen critical acclaim from Fabio on BBC Radio 1, as well as Knowledge, ATM and Venue Mag.
This year Intrigue has launched its own record label, Intrigue Music. With The Insiders’ Ben Payne (aka Soundscape) curating the label with the exact same dedication and erudition as the nights from which it was born, the Intrigue imprint promises to deliver deep, leftfield D&B from established artists and rising talents alike.
With The Insiders, Break, Survival and Random Movement all involved, as well as music from fresh talent Squash lined up for later in 2009, expect to see the Intrigue logo spinning round on your decks for a long time yet.
