Sgt. Pepper Inner Groove - XEX638-1 G (1967) and YEX-638-6-1-2-7(T?) (c.1987) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 10, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
In answer to the statement that the initial laughing as part of the "Inner Groove" sequence was not cut onto any original vinyl copies, here is proof that it was. It depends on how well timed the cut was when landing in the centre. It would appear that on some cuts the sequence was started later (or muted until one revolution's worth was left) to try and ensure sound wouldn't be cut upon sound as the cutting stylus tracked back over the inner groove itself.

The stereo cut I show starts with the laughing and has the majority of the sequence spread over the concentric lead-out. Only the trail end of it gets caught on the actual itself groove.

BTW It's worth pointing out that the c.1987 copy is NOT a DMM digitally-mastered copy, and is not sourced from the CD. It is an analogue cut and was purchased in very early 1987 before the CD re-issues were released.
