E' finita. Per tutti i gruppi arriva prima o poi questo momento. Ci si abitua, un po' per volta volta, ma alla fine ce se ne fa una ragione. Dal 2002 è ormai passato del tempo, forse non tantissimo rispetto alla storia di altri gruppi, ma forse nemmeno così poco. Soprattuto se si è suonato in un gruppo punk hardcore, che non è solo un genere musicale, non solo una sottocultura con una grande tradizione alle spalle dai mille volti e dalle mille sfaccettature, ma una grande avventura di libertà, dove tutto quanto è vissuto intensamente, concerti, canzoni, anime, pensieri, attivismo, dove l'urgenza di esserci, la voglia di riappropriarsi della propria vita, che è ora, è in primo piano da tutto il resto, e ti avvolge, e ti penetra in tutta la sua ricchezza. Mi ricordo ero poco più di un ragazzino, e una sera andai a vedere un concerto dei Five Boots, un gruppo di ragazzi che nei primi anni '90 erano attivi qui a Perugia, e fu la prima volta che vidi un gruppo e una serata punk hardcore dal vivo. Forse allora scattò qualcosa. Il filosofo Soren Kierkegaard diceva che l'istante della scelta è solenne e venerabile. In quegli anni fummo in tanti a scegliere. A scegliere di ritrovarsi in un unico percorso da costruire insieme, nella cosapevolezza di vivere, e di apprestarsi a condivivere, una stagione e un'esperienza che sarebbero state a modo loro uniche ed irripetibili. Certo era ed è stato rischioso, e a modo nostro ne abbiamo avuto di coraggio. Forse è stata una scelta che non abbiamo mai dovuto fare? Così diceva un nostro caro amico. Ogni piccolo vissuto è una piccola era di creatività, dove i sogni, e le speranze di realizzarli, sembrano essere sempre a portata di mano. Gli Ingegno come una goccia in mezzo all'oceano? O magari una piccola stella che brilla nel cielo, insieme alle altre. E rimarranno i ricordi, e la fortuna di aver potuto condividere gioie, rabbia, paura, risa, e altre emozioni, insieme a tante persone, amici e non, e in tanti posti differenti, insieme al desiderio di aver lasciato qualcosa, anche se poco, ma forse di grande valore per qualcuno. Cristina Mun, dell'ex Virus Occupato, diceva che per i torinesi Negazione l'angoscia di vivere diventava poesia. The band, strongly desired by me (Giacomo) and my brother (Marco), was born in june 2002 from the need to play an old school hc that should has come from the 80's sounds with the typical characteristics of Italian old school hc so loved and known in the world (of course, known and loved from who lived that era and music, and, most of all, valued them).
The idea of singing in our mother tongue surely reminded to many legendary bands like Indigesti, Negazione, Sottopressione etc., and it enabled us to have a more direct and immediate approach to express our ideas, sensations and feelings. That's the reason of our decision to keep the italian language also for the name of the band, and after many suggestions we decided for "Ingegno della Cultura" (Ingenuity of the Culture).
Getting immediately down to work during that summer, we obstinately looked for the last members of the band in our hometown (Perugia, in the middle of Italy, near Rome).
We were looking for guys who had the same passion as us and after several searches, at the beginning of the autumn, the band was ready to start.
After a series of shows everywhere in our country during the first half of 2003, we went to Rome at our friends studio to record 6 songs, and 5 of those tracks went immediately out (Ingegno / Another Way, split) the same autumn on Nemart Independent Music Federation from Budapest (www.nemartrecords.hu). Since november 2003 we decided to cut our band name just to "Ingegno" (Ingenuity). We recorded 4 more songs in june 2004, and our first full length cd ("Self Titled", 9 songs) went out on italian Hurry Up! Records (www.hurryuphc.com) the end of the summer.
During our first tour in east Europe, in august 2003, we had the pleasure to meet and play with great bands of the european and world hc scene of that period, like Pointing Finger, Confronto, Nueva Etica, Hold x True etc. In December 2003 we toured the iberic peninsula (Spain-Portugal) for 10 days, and we also toured France in february 2004 for other 10 days. We toured again many european countries in the summer of 2004. In august 2005 we have been to the USA for a two weeks tour, and in april/may 2006 we have been to Brazil for about 20 days playing 10 shows. In 2006 we recorded our second Ep ("Il Visionario" - "The Visionary", 7 songs), and in 2008 our last full length ("Ancora Sveglio" - "Still Awake", 10 songs), both still out on Hurry Up! Records. These last years we kept playing a lot of shows all around Italy.
After 7 years of playing and touring, the band split up in autumn 2009. We would like to thank from the heart all our friends and all the guys who followed and supported us in this experience through these years, and all the nice people we met along the way and in all the places we have been to.
