Originally known as Unique Freak, In Decades Decline kept the Hardcore flame burning throughout Edinburgh's lean years of the early 2000's.
Between 2002 and 2007 live appearances were much rarer, but they still managed two full album releases on Edinburgh label - Lawgiver Records.
The first L.P entitled 'Duneideann' (Scots Gaelic for Edinburgh) was released in 2001.
'Year Zero' was the band's second album release in December of 2007. A raw but intelligent album full of social comment and angry energy.
IDD were loaded with political commentary and were always relentless in their delivery.
Originally incarnated as Unique Freak the band began as a pop punk outfit. Drawing influence from acts such as Down by Law, Dagnasty and SNFU. Unique Freak enjoyed many gigs in Scotland and a few more in France and Holland. After two great demo releases, vocalist Turner left first. Then guitarist Kenny - a couple of years after. The founder members (Andy and Murray) subsequently recruited Finch and Gav on guitar and vocals.
Younger guitarist Martin went on to blossom in the new line up and soon the band became the Hardcore monster we knew yesterday.
Lazy and unambitious perhaps, IDD just were maybe not in the right place at the right time. But they surely made their mark and will hopefully be remembered for some real classic and thoughtful crossover tracks!
Just after the band split in late 2007 several members continued tokeep the flame burning. The Year is One managed two gigs with new drummer Artur. But certain issues, previously prevalent, took their toll and this was a short lived venture.
Members of the band went on to play in bands such as The Process, Aberfeldy, Intentions, The Gin Goblins and Oi Polloi amongst many more...
A vital piece of Scottish Hardcore history for all of those that dare to explore further..
