Even years after losing someone to suicide, you still find it hard to shake the question of where they are now, and to accept the fact that they are gone. I wrote this song about my uncle who decided to take his own life just after I graduated high school. After all this time has passed, it's still hard to look back at all the positive memories you have without them being polluted by the negative emotions such as wondering why, and wishing you could have done something to stop it.

I've had multiple dreams throughout the past few years where I'm with my uncle, come to the realization that he is supposed to be dead, and ask him how he is still alive. However not once have I gotten past that point in my dream. To me that's my way of knowing, he is on the other side, and he is telling me through a dream he is okay. I may not need to know what exactly happened, but I feel he is at peace. I had to capture the emotion of being caught in that battle of trying to stay positive, while constantly being plagued with negative thoughts. There are endless amounts of people going through that same battle, and I just want them to know they are never alone.

Always be open to reach out for help if you are in need. There is never anything shameful about it. There is always someone who would love to reach out their hand to you. I hope to encourage people to do so before it's too late.
