Chad and I are heading to the studio for the 1st time since "This Is the New Year" to launch our 1st fully collaborative music project!

Here's our story:

Hi. My name is Ian Axel. Seven years ago, I was just an ordinary pianist with a dream to write a musical. But my life changed when I met a dude in college named Chad Vaccarino. Chad began to write songs with me, encouraged me to sing those songs, and then helped me self-release an album in January 2010 called This Is the New Year, the title track of which featured Chad as a vocalist. Since then, the album got picked up by a label, and the songs ("This Is the New Year" in particular) have reached millions of people on YouTube, film and television: http://youtu.be/lALU0EhT2vE

Together we appeared on MTV, the Rachael Ray show, and played sold out shows on both sides of America. And THEN, just as things were gaining momentum, we lost our entire team and financial backing when our label folded last December. Now it's just back to me and Chad...all in what feels like a blink of an eye.

We consider all that has happened to us a blessing. It's forced us to go back to the root of what we're doing and why we're doing it, and we feel as creative as we did when we met each other in college. We've been writing like crazy, and what we want the most is to record and release these songs to YOU. But now, more then ever before, we need your help.

Here's the plan. We'd like to record an EP (6 songs) and immediately self-release it to you. Then we want to use the EP as a foundation upon which we build a new team. Once we have a team in place, we will record more songs and properly release an album at some point next year. These new songs will not be released as "Ian Axel," but as a completely new name. Chad is singing on nearly all the songs, and this will be our first fully collaborative project.

Financially, we need $15,000. This money will be used to record, mix, and master the EP. If we reach this goal, it will seriously be a dream come true for us.

If there are any additional donations, they will help us pay for the design/packaging of the EP, manufacturing costs, and a website/publicist to promote the new music. They will help fund the tour we hope to route in the Fall, and pay for any other expenses we may incur as we navigate the waters of being independent musicians.

We've spent a lot of time thinking about ways to make these rewards meaningful and how to share parts of ourselves beyond the usual physical products. We're excited to connect with you as we prepare to release what we feel is truly positive music into the world.
