When one thinks of hip-hop, the cities that usually come to mind are New York, LA and Atlanta. But, Hartford, CT? Not likely. That is until now. Hartford CT's native son P.E.S.O. is on a personal mission to put his hometown on the map as a formidable contender in the world of hip-hop.
Born Peter Rochester, P.E.S.O. comes from a family that is already established in the music business. After relocating to Queens, NY, he found himself among other aspiring artists in his neighborhood such as The Lost Boys, 50 Cent and the G-Unit. Forming a close bond with Freaky-Tah of The Lost Boys, he watched as his friend began to rise in the ranks of hip-hop and decided that he would apply the same amount of dedication and preseverance to make his own dream a reality.
With full support from his family and friends, P.E.S.O. started creating his own music. Fate would have it that he would be able to move back to Hartford, where he reconnected with childhood friends that shared his vision for creating music. Out of this common goal, Liv-Ya-Life Records, a full-fledged independent label, was formed.
P.E.S.O.'s first release was "I Got Next." The record sold 10,000 copies and created a serious buzz. As he began building a name for himself, P.E.S.O. began to appear on a steady stream of mixtapes while at the same time perfecting his live performance skills. Eventually, his stage persona would lead him to becoming the opening act for major artists such as Kanye West, 50 Cent, Mobb Deep, Fat Joe and Trina.
P.E.S.O.'s latest commercially released single, "Stacks on Deck" produced by Sinclair Davis of Hi Lyfe Recordings debuted at No. 6 on Billboards Hot Singles Chart and No. 10 on Billboards R&B/Hip-Hop Singles Chart. P.E.S.O. is signed to Liv-Ya-Life/Sugar Water/Fontana/Universal Music Group and under the management Bildaberg Entertainment Management Group, based out of Boston, MA/Los Angeles, CA.
P.E.S.O. is prepping for the release of his next project titled "the AIR", due out within the second quarter of 2009, with a series of performances at various venues nationwide.
