DESCRIPTION:
pt.vishnu narayan bhatkhande, who lived between 1860 and 1936,was a great musicologist.he published his treatise on hindustani classical music,which was the first attempt to organise ragas into thats.he also created compositions deliniating the grammar of ragas.pt.k.g.ginde began preserving those compositions in audio form but could not complete.pt.indudhar nirody a disciple of pt.ginde,himself an ace vocalist and a musicologist, undertook to complete this task and
has completed this humangous task of recording 1896 compositions.pt.nirody is the winner of this year's sangeeth natak academy award.the canara union of bangalore,which has a big role in preserving and encouraging hindustani classical music,felicitated him on 4th july 2015.
on that occasion,he gave a talk and sang a few compositions.i was lucky to record the programme live and am presenting it here.these are only samples.pt.madhusudana bhat on harmonium and pt.udaya raj karpur on tabla.those
