"Some Guy had just climbed the World Trade Tower and the headline in "The Post" that day was: HUMAN FLY CLIMPS TOWER. I was out walking along the street at about six in the morning. It felt like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD the way all the people were wandering around. Somebody had jumped off the roof of the building next to ours and they where scraping him off the sidewalk. All of that made me go home and write the song... -Lux Interior (from NME 1981-07-25)

You guys have inspired several comps, like SONGS THE CRAMPS TAUGHT US and many volumes of BORN BAD, chronicling songs you covered or adapted for your own repertoire. How did you react to them?
Poison Ivy: We didn't know they were coming out and still never met the DJ from Australia who assembled them. A lot of the information about the artists is new to us. These things were mostly just records to us. It's a mixed blessing. These records endorse and support our cause, but there's much inaccuracy. Someone will cite a song as being influential to us and they're oftentimes wrong, not understanding that some riffs are Rock'n'Roll or R'n'B cliches. We could show you 20 records that feature the same riff. They're not tuned into that. We only heard GREEN MOSQUITO after we recorded HUMAN FLY. But that song is cited as a big influence.

Lyrics:

Well I'm a human fly
I, I spell F-L-Y
I, I say buzz ,buzz, buzz and it's just because...
I, I'm a human fly and I don't know why
I got ninety six tears in ninety six eyes.

I got a garbage brain, it's drivin' me insane
And I don't like the ride, so push that pesticide
And baby I won't care, 'cause baby I don't scare
'Cause I'm a reborn maggot using germ warfare. Rock it....

Bzzz...

Bzzz...

I, I'm a human fly
I, I spell F-L-Y
I, I say buzz, buzz, buzz, and it's just because..
I'm a unzipped fly, and I don't know why
And I don't know, but I say

Bzzz...ride tonight
And I say bzzz...rocket ride
And I say bzzz...but I don't know why
