North Carolina's House of Fools began as a side-project when the vocalist of the Greensboro based band The Necessary, Josh King, began writing songs with keyboardist Matt Bowers. Though a local favorite, The Necessary took a back seat to House of Fools. They recruited King's old bandmates; guitarists Joel Kiser and David McLaughlin, bassist Jeff Linn and drummer Phil Bell.
Hooking up with producer Walt Vincent (Pete Yorn, the Format), House of Fools recorded a self-titled EP which was released in October of 2006. Several tours with various headlining bands led to the early March 2007 appearance of their full-length "Live and Learn." The record's sunny pop formula showcased the influence of acts like The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Tom Petty.
In late 2008 Jeff and Phil parted ways with the group leaving House of Fools unable to tour, however with the addition of Jack Foster and Jordan Powers (on drums and bass respectively) they wrote and recorded several dozen new songs. Renewed and focused, "the fools" began touring regionally and have been gaining momentum. House of Fools are currently recording a new album for a projected early 2011 release.
