HONEYDUST:
From the rolling hills of Marin County, California (just north of San Francisco), the home of numerous rock and roll legends, Santana, Metallica, Green Day, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, Primus and many more, HONEYDUST comes from a long line of true rock and roll pedigree. With the release of their debut CD "California Sunshine", this band are poised to claim their place among these rock and roll legends. With well crafted original songs and sunny hook laden melodies, Honeydust has truly carved out a niche of their own amongst the barren wasteland of today's "cookie cutter" rock. Their sound and high energy live show is a breath of fresh air for all true rock fans. Bringing the raw dinge of Crazy Horse, the dueling southern guitar harmonies of The Allman Brothers and the classic song craftsmanship of Led Zeppelin into the 21st Century, they have truly created a unique style that is at once familiar, yet original. This is what rock and roll is all about.
Darren Nelson is the songwriter, singer and guitarist who leads the band with powerful and heartfelt lyrics about love, life, fast cars, guns and whiskey. Hailing from western MA, he left his home in the back woods in 1997 to persue his passion for "the song." He's played thousands of shows coast to coast and has garnered critical acclaim and success in the Bay area. He puts 110% into every performance capturing the true art of showmanship.
Danny Uzi plays lead guitar and sings harmonies. As well as playing with the band, he also engineered and produced their debut CD. Aside from playing with HONEYDUST, he is easily recognized for his role as frontman in the swamp rock sensation Chrome Johnson. Danny has toured the country many times with numerous bands and has put in quite a bit of time in the European markets as well. Previous bands include Preacher Boy, Lee Press On & The Nails and even a stint with rock legends Big Brother & The Holding Company! Playing guitar since the age of four, he is amazing to experience every time he steps on stage.
Mike Weiss plays the upright and electric bass and sings harmonies. He has played in numerous bands throughout the bay area for almost 20 years. From indie folk to pop, and from punk to country, Mike's approach is about being simple, powerful and precise. Mike has said "I've always considered myself a bass player, but it wasn't until I started playing with HONEYDUST that I became a true musician."
Lee Ray Bittner is the drummer and percussionist. He started playing drums at the age of twelve. Originally inspired by his dad (drummer for Big Brother and The Holding Company), he quickly learned all the classic rock and roll of Elvis and the Beatles. As his insatiable appetite for music progressed, he drifted towards the harder edge and intricacies of heavy metal and progressive rock to satisfy his growing passion of the drums. Lee started to gain recognition as a sought after drummer playing the college circuit while going to school in Chico, CA . Lee Ray's playing is thoughtful, and dynamic as well as and powerful and thunderous.
