DESCRIPTION:
August 8, 1970 - Lolita (first called ‘Tokitae’) was captured as a juvinile in Penn Cove, Washington. Today, she is the last survivor of the forty-five Southern Resident Orcas captured and delivered for display in marine parks between 1965 and 1973. At least 13 others were killed during captures. Lolita has been in captivity, under abhorrent conditions at Seaquarium in Miami, Florida for the past 50 years!
Pacific Northwest musicians Tiller’s Folly & The Wilds have joined forces to raise public awareness and education to protect the Salish Sea and all the life it supports. The first project of our cultural initiative was the release of ‘Bring Lolita Home.’
