DESCRIPTION:
Joe was a San Antonio Icon, Texas radio DJ. He used his middle name Anthony as his radio last name. Joe Anthony was on San Antonio radio for 5 decades mainly known for his work on San Antonio stations KMAC & KISS. In the 1980's he was nicknamed "The Godfather of Rock n' Roll". Joe's career started in the 1950's playing Rhythm & Blues records on KMAC-AM's "Harlem Serenade". By the 1970's his album rock show was also simulcast on KISS-FM where he was one of the first to feature up and coming Hard Rock Bands. Joe along with KMAC/KISS's other dj personality Lou Roney helped popularize San Antonio, South Texas by catapluting band like Rush, Triumph, Scorpions, and Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Def Leppard (Great Britain) to somewhat lesser-knowns like Accept (Germany), Krokus (Switzerland), Yngwie Malmsteen (Sweden) and Loudness (Japan), also STARZ .Joe’s global treasure hunt put the world’s most precious Hard Rock right in our city. and many other artist of the time. Many of these bands credit Joe & Lou and the exposure received on KMAC/KISS to launching their careers. Joe Anthony's memory lives on in the music he brought to San Antonio and making it "The ROCK CAPITOL OF THE WORLD". and let's not forget his"Villa Italia Restaurant," on San Pedro Ave where Olmos Creek crosses.. Ramsey quotes I was fortunate to have met Joe as a kid way before ROXX was even a gleam in any groupies eyes.

ROXX San Antonio Rock band was inspired and wrote the song
