Quitting his studies at the Rock Academy was definitely the highest stake in Willem’s early career. At the risk of failure, of not getting his music out there and sharing it with the world, he took a leap of faith. After his very first record contract was signed, he dedicated himself to music full-time. And well, time has told us, again and again, that the risk was worth it. Marking the first few steps of an extraordinary life that’s all about music, is his collaboration with The Prophet, ‘High Rollerz’.

After a career-defining Defqon.1 2006, Willem received an invitation to play at Qlimax. One year after his debut, he was asked to share the decks with his personal hero, The Prophet. A highlight that required something special. And so, they met up in the studio. With Real El Canario working his gangster magic on the vocal shouts, and the sound a perfect blend of The Prophet’s hardcore roots and Willem’s new and genre-defining hardstyle, ‘High Rollerz’ was born.

Willem:”It kind of felt like a teacher and student, there in the studio. At that moment, he taught me a lot. I discovered some really useful tricks. But he also learned from me, since I’m good at melodies. I became popular because I brought something new to the scene, and that was interesting for Dov (The Prophet) as well. He was doing music, mainly hardcore, for a long time already. When a fresh, new mind, bursting with ideas, comes into your studio that’s just as exciting.”
