Gretsch Tennesse Hi-Lo vs. Filtertron vs. GFS Retroton Nashville - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 27, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Pickup shoot-out, comparison. 3 guitars with 3 different pickups, all with a "gretschy" sound:
1. Gretsch Tennessee 2003 with Hi-LoTron pickups - Elixir 10 strings
2. Gretsch Tennessee 2002 (pre-Fender) with Filtertron pickups - D'Addario 11 strings
3. Hagstrom Viking Tremar Deluxe with GFS Retroton Nashville pickups - D'Addario 10 strings

All 3 recorded through Vox AC15 C1 amp, all soundexamples with the same settings EXCEPT the last one, on which I tried to match the sounds for all 3 guitars. Recorded with Rode NT2-A mic into Universal Audio LA-610 preamp. No effects added after the recording, no EQing, just the plain sound.
