Welcome back to ProGuitarShop.com today we're taking a trip into the Sky Fi from Alexander Pedals. The Sky Fi is based around a family of ancient digital rack reverbs that were riddled with quirks, which unexpectedly enhanced the feature set. The reverb decay took time to build up, as opposed to today's instant cavernous spaces. The SkyFi gives you this effect intentionally with delay effects added in, for a multi-effect unit that soars to new galaxies. Individual knobs allow you to tweak the reverb mix/decay in addition to the delay's time and feedback levels. A master mix controls the mix of delay/reverb and dry signal which you can route separately using a TRS cable in the pedal's output jack. A three-position toggle switch changes the mode of the delay and reverb engine, with a unique control for each. Wash mode provides a clean digital delay with a slow-building reverb, and holding down the footswitch in this mode grabs the reverb by the tail and keeps it sustaining infinitely for some rich harmonic textures. Gleam mode introduces an upper octave that tracks to both effects but is partial to the reverb sound, which gives a slight shimmer to the overall tone. Pressing the footswitch in this mode shifts the upper octave to the reverb tails for a more pronounced shimmer effect that is perfect for accentuation parts of your music. Finally, Echo mode adds the slow-building reverb to a delay, where holding the footswitch lowers the reverb's presence and sends the echoes spiraling out of control and into self-oscillation, filling in the cracks with a subdued reverb effect. By holding the bypass switch while powering up, you can change from Infinite Hold to Freeze Hold and back again. Infinite Hold lets you add new notes to the held signal on the fly, while Freeze Hold lets you play over the frozen passage without changing it as you play. And like all Alexander Pedals, the SkyFi is made in North Carolina by human beings, doing good.
