Locanda delle Fate - 01 - Homo homini lupus - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 29, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
As the author of one of the greatest masterpieces of Italian progressive rock, “Forse le lucciole non si amano più” (1977), Locanda delle Fate is definitely – and unfortunately – less known more for scoring at the turn of the last century and the current one, a second full-length entitled “Homo Homini Lupus”.
The line-up is almost the same as “Forse le lucciole…” and consists of five historical members:
Oscar Mazzoglio – keyboards
Enzo Vevey – guitar and vocals
Alberto Gaviglio – vocals, acoustic guitar, flute
Luciano Boero – bass guitar
Giorgio Gardino – drums
Very little sense would have made to record a replica of the debut LP, more than twenty years after its initial release. With “Homo Homini Lupus” Locanda preferred to update their sound towards more modern paths, without losing the feeling at the base of their own compositions. Guitars and keyboards sound much more (hard) rock, but that does not mean that the quality of the songs has dropped: the musical research, in fact, is much more varied than in the past, with dashes of folk, world, ethnic and new age.
The production, at last, is slightly cooler than that of the glorious 70s, and blends really well with lyrics of profound social criticism.
