Held by Heartstrings got together in a garage out in the sticks and started off playing covers as most bands do. But Jye, Liam, and Peta quickly learned that they wanted to play better songs, so they had to write them! Soon enough the tracks started getting pumped out.

The bands first few decent songs were recorded and released on the Crimson Letter EP (a tribute to an abandoned band name) along with a selection of home videos and happy snaps.

After about a year of writing, jamming and recording, HbH decided it was time to be released into the wild of the local music scene. HbH got a taste of live performance and rocked out at many early shows while shamelessly self-promoting their band at gigs, through friends, and online (God bless MySpace)

2006 held a lot of promise and progress for HbH starting off with entry into Triple Js coveted unearthed artists coupled with national airplay. The week after HbH took out second place in the TAFE NSW band competition in Manly earning them their first large cash prize and entry as a finalist in the Jim Beam University Challenge in Sydney. HbH also appeared in the Loft Youth Venues publication, Inzine Magazine, quoted as being ".one of the most original and aspiring bands around!"

2006 also found HbH recording a new 5 track CD, titled the Dead Live ’06 Demo. This recording harnessed HbH’ unique live sound and raw energy.

2007 sees the band in its second year together, with dozens of gigs under their belt. April saw HbH as National Youth Week supporters, playing a number of shows over the Hunter and Coast in aid of the event. In May, HbH were honored to be guests on TIN Radio, a Newcastle-based station that is podcast over the internet, including an interview and live performance.

HbH have also begun recording their 3rd studio release, the 10 track album titled …This Is Not a Lullaby, compiled of all new songs highlighting the bands continual success and development in song writing and recording.

Held by Heartstrings are looking forward to the future with their innovative sound, progressive fan base, and mad live shows!

We were also extremely humbled to be the final question on the JJJ 'band or not a band' quiz, while the muppets guessed wrong, its charming to know that you're still underground enough that people don't know if you're a band or not. But cheers to JJJ for the support
