The Pine Barrens of New Jersey once hosted many businesses including ship building. With the vast resources of wood, particularly Cedar, the Pine Barrens was well suited for ship building. Ships hauled glass, wood, iron and other goods to New York City and Philadelphia prior the the arrival of trains which changed the transportation of goods forever. The Mullica River is still one of the most beautiful places in the world.
