DESCRIPTION:
Having played for 8 years in the late Ray Barrettos Jazz and Salsa bands, world-traveled Jazz and Classical pianist, composer and arranger Hector Martignon loves to go back to his musical roots. You will always find Latin, Brazilian, Afro Cuban idioms blended with a virtuosic technique developed through his Classical training. This appearance in Santiago highlights his love and comand of the Afro Cuban and Salsa genres. That same year (2008) Hector's Salsa Piano Book, commisioned by Hal Leonard, was published to general acclaim and Hector's first album with ZOHO records, "Refugee", was nominated to a GRAMMY for best LAtin Jazz album.
