American composer Arthur H. Bird was an expatriot much in the fashion of George Templeton Strong in that he left his homeland U.S.A. for Europe where the classical music climate was more stimulating and rewarding. He wrote considerable music for piano, woodwind ensemble, orchestra (two symphonies, overtures, several suites), vocal and choral works, an operetta and ballet among other things. Karl Krueger recorded his Third Little Suite for Large Orchestra for the Society for the Preservation of the American Musical Heritage with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
