The Mahidol University Jazz Orchestra [MJO] was initially formed in 2003 by jazz studies students at Mahidol University

conducted and directed by Dr. Joseph Bowman and an advice of Dr. Gene Aitken. Its first public debut was in 2004 at the

auditorium of Siam Motors Building -- a home of Siam Music Yamaha Co., Ltd. MJO continuously develops its performing skills

with various leading conductors including Shuichi Komiyama, David Hart, Udo Van Boven, and Hashem Assadullahi.
In 2007, MJO has been honoured to perform at Chiayi Music Festival 2007-2008, Taiwan ROC and, recently, participated in the

Fourth Thailand International Jazz Conference [TIJC] 2012 and Jazz In The Park with MJO at Santi Chai Prakan Park 2013. MJO

plays a multitude genre of jazz -- Standard, Latin, Vocal, Fusion, as well as the classical style of Symphonic Band. Its

repertoire embraces compositions from world-class jazz composers -- for instance, Gordon Goodwin, Maria Schneider, Bob Mintzer,

Bub Curnow, and Mark Tylor.
In Thailand International Jazz Conference [TIJC] 2013 MJO will present composition from Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk,

Chick Corea's jazz artists who created many music composition for the jazz community. For the remembrance of those artists,

our bands had selected tunes that were created by Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Chick Corea and rearrange it for The Large

Jazz Ensemble to performance in this conference.
MJO is currently directed by Taweesak Booranapanitpan, Annawin Kerdteesud, and Sarit Tanpensuk.
