DESCRIPTION:
I was a disc jockey on KALX,KUSF & KTIM in the San Francisco Bay Area from 1978 to 1981.I left broadcasting in 1981 to become a band manager, engineer / producer. On January 18,2011 the University of San Francisco decided to stop broadcasting and sold their license to USC owned Classic Public Radio Network,closed the door to KUSF and locked the DJ's out. They are now fighting to get their license back and get back on the air. They started broadcasting online as KUSF In Exile. Their website is Savekusf.org. In October 2011 I was asked to do a weekly hourly program on KUSF In Exile. I began my first broadcast October and did shows weekly until July 27,2012. I did a total of 37 KUSF In Exile shows which I later called KUSF In Exile Fab Mab Live Redux.The reason for this was that from 1979-81 I recorded and broadcasted live shows from various San Francisco & Bay Area venues on KALX,KUSF & KTIM. I also did a weekly show taped at the Mabuhay every weekend in 1980. KUSF asked me to do this show featuring my live broadcasts. In the beginning, I just included a few live tracks mixed in with various artists,but,later decided to just feature the live shows themselves.so this is just like listening to the radio show.Unfortunately KUSF In Exile cannot keep the archives active for more than two weeks or so by FCC laws I'm told so all of my shows were de-activated and you can no longer hear them on their website.So,I did the next best thing by posting them on youtube where they can be heard again.
