2016-10-27 - John Kadlecik Band - "(Acid) Rain" - Ardmore Music Hall - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 02, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Recently (e.g., 7/24/2016 with the John Kadlecik Band), John Kadlecik resurrected "(Acid) Rain", a song that he wrote with Eric Olson during his time with Hairball Willie back in the early 1990s. The song was inspired by a Bloom County cartoon strip (Berke Breathed) from 8/29/1983, whereby Olson created a bunch of new verses of similar cadence for the new song. A copy of the original strip from the Washington Post can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/fansofjohnkadlecik/permalink/1148332571897923/

You may or may not recall that acid rain was considered a significant environmental issue by the EPA back then, but, in part due to budgetary constraints, it was dismissed as unimportant by then president Ronald Reagan, who questioned the scientific evidence on the causes of acid rain and who was reluctant to impose additional restrictions on industry purportedly responsible for the problem. Ah, politics... "Give me a stainless steel umbrella."
